Where is it from?

The Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ is a large, imposing hybrid plant part of the large Araceae family, and like many Philodendrons tend to originate from the rainforests of South America, having the habit of climbing other plants and growing on other trees.

Is the Green Princess for me?

It's very easy to care for, with gorgeous, glossy, rich green leaves with speckles of gold that are guaranteed to beautify your home with its elegant and simple foliage.

It is the perfect plant for your living space as it is low-maintenance and won’t dominate too much space in your home. As Green Princess thrives in spots of moderate lighting, it is also best for areas that receive low lighting, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.

PlantX top tip: Regularly wipe your plants leaves with a damp soft cloth or give it a full shower every now and again to remove any dust that has accumulated, to ensure a healthy pest-free plant.

  • Humidity: 50%+

Philodendron 'Green Princess'- Common Problems

Smaller leaves: This is caused when the Green Princess plant is exposed to too much light. Simply move the plant to a new spot with moderate indirect sunlight and the growth should go back to normal.

Pale leaves: This is another indication of too much exposure to light, and can be fixed by moving the plant to a spot with moderately bright indirect sunlight. If it's not due to lighting issues, this is also a sign there's a deficiency, which can be easily fixed with something like Groconut.

Burnt or dry leaf tips: This can be caused due to over-fertilizing, resulting in a high mineral deposit in the soil. You can fix this by skipping the fertilizer for a month while watering the soil with plain water to flush out the chemicals. Water the plant with water that has been left out overnight so chemicals like chlorine have evaporated for a more healthy recovery.

Brown spots on leaves: These can be caused by sunburn due to too much direct sunlight, and can be fixed by moving the plant to shadier spots.

Leaf Discolouration: It's possible that the plant has been overwatered if the margins of the leaves are yellowing. Your plant should revert to normal if you change your watering routine.

Common Pests: Mealybugs
