Discover the Benefits of Aomori Hiba

Revered in Japan, Aomori Hiba is an ancient and slow-growing cypress tree whose wood has been used for centuries in the construction of temples and notable buildings throughout Japan.

Aomori Hiba contains powerful resin with a unique chemical structure that has been linked to improved concentration, decreased stress-levels and heightened immune functioning. In Japan alone, this resin is carefully extracted and distilled to create pure Aomori Hiba essential oil

Hiba oil has been used for millennia to support the body and mind, which is how Katie, psychologist and founder of Bloombox Club, first encountered the product.

Dr. Katie Cooper on Hiba Oil

'I have been using Aomori Hiba products as a way to reduce my stress levels whilst creating a more natural environment in my home, which I believe is hugely linked to our mental wellbeing.

It wasn't until I properly researched Aomori Hiba that I discovered its antibacterial and insect-repellant properties, thanks to two key ingredients: Beta-Dolabrin and Hinokitiol.

Unlike common pesticides, Hiba improves the quality of the air you breathe. In line with research on Forest Bathing, and Japanese wood, Hiba helps to support the NK cells in your body (an integral part of your immune system).

I now use it to kill spider mites on my Alocasias, as a mosquito repellent for the summer, and spray it in my kids bedrooms to aid their sleep.

I couldn't imagine living without it now, and I urge you to try it for yourself and see if you feel the difference.'

Hiba Oil For Self-Care

Hiba oil can be a powerful de-stressor, working multi-sensorially to get you out of your head and into your body.

Spray Hiba Wild Incense Spray onto your pillow to get a good night's sleep, apply to your pulse points for for a focussed and calm day ahead, or mist upwards to fill a room or office with the calming, pleasant scent of ancient Hiba wood.

Scientific studies have also linked Amori Hiba trees with the production of NK cells in the body. Clinical trials led by Forest Bathing expert Dr. Qing Li found that exposure to Hiba oil vapour for just one hour a day significantly increase the number of NK, A/B-expressing, and other cells found in the immune system.

Li and his team also found lower concentrations of adrenaline and noradrenaline in subjects' urine, demonstrating the impact of Hiba on the sympathetic nervous system (ie. evidencing the claim that Hiba helps the body destress).

Hiba Oil For Plant Care

There are more than 40 different kinds of ingredients in the essential oil extracted from the Hiba wood. Two ingredients in particular, Hinokitiol and Beta-Dolabrin are unique to the family of trees, and prized for being gentle on the body, but reliably anti-sceptic. Hinokitiol has traditionally been used as a natural oral care agent, and Aomori Hiba wood has been used to make chopping boards for these reasons.

It is only in recent months that Katie realised Hiba's antimicrobial properties and insect-repellent properties would make it the ideal anti-insecticide for indoor plants!

The unique chemical composition of Hiba oil means it can effectively ward off mould and pests such as spider mites, without throwing off or upsetting your plant's health.

If your plant has bugs: Gently wipe your plants leaves with a damp cloth and give your plant a good spritz.

To ward off bugs: One morning a week, give your plant a gentle misting with the spray, or dilute it in water and add it to a larger mister.
